Packed auditoriums of developers, students and founders who come to learn, share and build the region's tech future.

Ecosystem

4 pillars building the Caribbean's tech future

Each pillar has a dedicated organization. Together they cover the whole journey: from learning to code to raising capital to scale. The community pillar is run by the Foundation. Tech Centre, Inmercity Labs and Caribe Ventures are partner companies, separate from the Foundation; its founders hold stakes in some of them, which is why we work with them at market prices. Social programs and scholarships are run by the Foundation.

  • 01
    Tech Centre

    Education

that connects you with the future

    Partner company

Specialized education is the foundation of any solid tech ecosystem: without skilled talent, no ecosystem grows or lasts. Tech Centre, a partner company in the ecosystem, trains the professionals who will drive the Caribbean's digital transformation with hands-on, up-to-date programs.

  • 02
    Fundación Código Abierto

    Community

    that drives change

    The Foundation

This pillar is run directly by the Foundation: free events, scholarships and job search support, prioritizing young people and women who have never had access to technology. Its home is the Casa Tech in El Prado, Barranquilla.

  • 03
    Inmercity Labs

    Innovation

    that transforms realities

    Partner company

Innovation is the engine that turns knowledge into real value. A tech ecosystem without the ability to innovate stays theoretical. Inmercity Labs, a partner company in the ecosystem, builds AI agents and platforms for businesses.

  • 04
    Caribe Ventures

    Capital

    that accelerates growth

    Partner company

Capital is the fuel that lets ideas scale and create impact. Without access to funding, even the best startups can't reach their potential. Caribe Ventures, a partner company in the ecosystem, connects Caribbean startups with investment.

  • What is Fundación Código Abierto?

Fundación Código Abierto (FCA) is a nonprofit in Barranquilla that brings education and access to technology and artificial intelligence to communities in Atlántico and the Colombian Caribbean. We do it through free events, scholarships and job search support, prioritizing young people and women who have never had access to technology.

  • What is the Foundation's mission?

We empower communities in Atlántico and the Colombian Caribbean with education and access to technology and artificial intelligence. We turn technology into culture through free events, scholarships and job opportunities, prioritizing young people and women from low-income, rural and marginalized communities, so the region becomes a tech epicenter built from within.

  • What is Costa Digital?

Costa Digital is the innovation center housed in the Casa Tech, the Foundation's home in El Prado, Barranquilla, one of the neighborhood's heritage houses. It is run by the Foundation and is where the region's tech communities meet, with coworking, a library and a Maker Lab.

  • What kind of events do you organize?

We organize and support events that connect the regional tech ecosystem, such as:

    • Tech Nights: meetups about AI, innovation and networking.
    • Barranqui-IA: the largest artificial intelligence hackathon in the Caribbean.
    • TechCaribe Fest: the region’s most important technology and entrepreneurship festival.
    • DevFest Barranquilla: the official Google Developer Group event.

We also support meetups, fairs, conferences and open calls that drive innovation. Most events are held in Spanish.

  • How can I join or collaborate with the Foundation?

There are many ways to get involved:

    • As a learner: come to Tech Nights, which are free, and apply for our scholarships.
    • As a volunteer or mentor: join our communities and events.

  • What is the Foundation's relationship with Tech Centre, Inmercity Labs and Caribe Ventures?

They are partner companies, separate from the Foundation and with their own business models. The Foundation's founders hold stakes in some of them. That's why we work with them at market prices, and social programs and scholarships are always run by the Foundation. For example, in 2025 the Foundation managed 50 scholarships and Tech Centre delivered them.

  • How do you support innovation?

We drive the innovation pillar together with Inmercity Labs, a partner company in the ecosystem and a software and artificial intelligence lab in Barranquilla. It helps companies and organizations solve real challenges with AI agents, automation and platforms, working with highly technical local teams. If your company has a challenge, you can contact them directly at inmercitylabs.com.

  • Why support Fundación Código Abierto?

Because every scholarship, event and program we run changes lives. More than 100 people trained with us now work in tech, and hundreds of young people, founders and companies have found a place to grow and connect. Supporting us is investing in the Caribbean's digital future.

  • Who is behind Fundación Código Abierto?

Behind this movement are Anuar Harb and Grace Torres, a couple of dreamers who decided to change the tech story of the Colombian Caribbean.

Anuar is a software developer, lead of Google Developer Group Barranquilla and founder of Fundación Código Abierto, with more than 10 years of experience building communities and innovation projects.

Grace is a singer, artist and cultural manager, committed to bringing art, creativity and technology together to inspire new generations.

Together they lead the Foundation with one idea: that the Caribbean becomes a tech epicenter built from within, with opportunities for those who have never had access to technology.
