TechCaribe, from an expo to a theater full of tech
TechCaribe has now run for three editions. It started in 2024 as a one-day expo with 1,464 attendees, grew in 2025 into a festival with a tour across three cities and, on August 8 and 9, 2026, debuted as the TechCaribe Show at the José Consuegra Higgins Theater with Midudev as headliner. It is the Foundation's bet to show that first-class technology is built from the Caribbean.

The Foundation's role
TechCaribe is a production of the Foundation and its community. Our role:
We produce the TechCaribe Show
A hybrid between a late-night show and a live podcast: four episodes with conversations, monologues, music and debate. Anuar Harb hosted, Midudev headlined and Grace Torres, the Foundation's co-founder, was one of the voices on stage.
We turn the event into scholarships
The Midudev TechRun on the Malecón brought together more than 100 runners in 2K and 5K races. We promised it would run for scholarships, and we published the full accounts.
We take the event to the territory
40 students and 5 teachers from the Benkos Biohó Agricultural Technical School traveled three hours from San Basilio de Palenque to experience the Show. It was the first phase of Kuagro Tech, our tech education program for the territory.
We take care of the experience
The VIP Experience sold out its 60 spots: both days, the beach after-party and a meet and greet with Midudev and the speakers.
Three editions, a festival that reinvents itself
Every year TechCaribe changed format to reach further: first an expo, then a festival with a tour, and in 2026 a show in a theater.
2024TechCaribe Expo
July 27, 2024 · Barranquilla
Where it all began
In a single day, TechCaribe Expo brought together professionals, students, business owners and founders from the Caribbean tech sector: 1,464 attendees, 32 talks and workshops and 10 tech communities sharing the space. It was also Google I/O Extended Barranquilla, the official GDG event, with the latest in AI, web and cloud presented live.
There were areas for developers, AI, companies and communities, a discussion zone, virtual reality demos and, on stage, an idea that sums up what we do: building a tech ecosystem takes three pillars, education, community and job opportunities.
The night closed with a concert by GRACE, winner of BarranquiJazz 2024. It was the first big gathering of the coast's tech talent.

September 8–20, 2025 · Barranquilla, Cartagena and Santa Marta
The Caribbean, big: a tour and a DevFest
In 2025 the Expo became a festival and ran in two phases. From September 8 to 19, the TechCaribe Tour took 13 events (Python on AWS workshops, AI to understand taxes, Notion Lab, “build an app in 2 hours with AI” and more) to Barranquilla, Cartagena and Santa Marta, with 580 attendees.
On September 20, Google DevFest Barranquilla filled Plaza de la Paz: 1,412 registrations, 318 people on the livestream and more than 40 workshops and talks across five zones. In the afternoon came the Pitch Showcase, where founders from the 51 Labs and Caribe Ventures incubation program competed for USD 30,000 in prizes, and the day closed with another GRACE concert.
Of all attendees, 38% were women and 147 companies registered with a tax ID. In one year, the event went from 1,464 attendees to more than 2,300 people reached.

Closing with GRACE 2026TechCaribe Show
August 8–9, 2026 · José Consuegra Higgins Theater, Barranquilla
The Show's debut: a packed theater
In 2026 TechCaribe stopped being a single event and became a season: Barranqui-IA in May as the first stage and the Fest in August as the second. In the latter, the format changed again: a hybrid between a late-night show and a live podcast, with four episodes, Midudev as headliner and more than 540 attendees from 42 cities.
The Midudev TechRun took more than 100 runners to the Malecón and funded 12 scholarships, and 40 students from Palenque traveled three hours to experience the Show in the first phase of Kuagro Tech.
What happened on August 8 was the first four episodes of a show that's here to stay: the theater was our studio with a live audience, and the episodes are coming to YouTube.

Facing the theater
A theater full of community
Three hours on the road to touch the future
Kuagro Tech honors the kuagro, the ancestral way Palenque organizes itself into groups that support each other for life. The program will continue with hands-on training in programming and artificial intelligence in the technology room that Pedro Adán Torres will donate to the school.

These are the full accounts of the race's first edition. The scholarship fund is larger than the net: costs ran higher than expected and the Foundation covered the difference to keep its commitment of allocating 50% of gross revenue.

The finale
The future for devs
Midudev, the biggest Spanish-speaking dev voice, closed with memes, nods to Barranquilla and a message: people have been saying programming is dead for years, and it's still here.
